The Stages of Grief

Grief Doesn’t Follow a Straight Line

A gentle reflection for those navigating loss

Sometimes people talk about grief as if it moves through “stages”—like steps you climb toward healing. But truthfully, grief doesn’t follow a map.

It has its own rhythm.

You may feel sadness one day, anger the next… or both at once. Some days might feel calm, even light—and then a memory might catch you off guard. That’s not backtracking. That’s just being human.

There’s no schedule. No finish line. No wrong way.

Whatever you’re feeling today—whether it’s heavy, quiet, confusing, peaceful, or something you can’t even name—that feeling is valid. It’s yours. And it’s okay

.

You are not alone.

And you don’t need to move through grief—you just need space to be in it.

Whether you feel lost, numb, overwhelmed, or unsure—Bereavement Care is here to walk beside you. We offer time, patience, and a listening ear. No judgment. No expectations. Just space to feel, and support to help you carry it.

There’s no need to explain your grief perfectly, and no pressure to “get through” it quickly. We’ll meet you wherever you are, whenever you’re ready.

Our volunteers are here to offer warmth and steadiness, one conversation at a time.

Because healing doesn’t come from fixing—it comes from feeling heard, understood, and not having to face things on your own.
