Initial Bereavement Training
For: Anyone interested in offering support to bereaved adults and children in their community, or place of work. You need to be sponsored by a professional group or individual. (We do not accept anyone who has had a close bereavement within the last two years.)
Aim: To introduce and develop basic skills of bereavement care.
Learning Objectives:
- To develop an understanding of the grieving process;
- To develop the skills of empathetic listening and responding;
- To recognise how grief affects relationships with family and friends;
- To identify one’s own experience of loss;
- To acquire ideas for setting boundaries and managing difficult questions.

Children & Grief Course
For: Anyone who would like to work with bereaved children. You need to be sponsored by a professional group or individual. (We do not accept anyone who has had a close bereavement within the last two years.)
Aim: To develop an understanding of the emotional impact of bereavement on children and young people, and identifying ways of supporting them in their grief.
Learning Objectives:
- To gain and develop an understanding of the issues that affect bereaved children and their families.
- To learn the skills of working with bereaved children.
- To develop awareness of children’s needs in school and to promote education in bereavement.
- To acquire listening skills using play to facilitate grief work.

Cost: This is a ONE DAY Course @ £90 (Reduced price available for Bereavement Care Individual/Corporate Members and Students).
